This Privacy Policy explains how Top Step Technology, LLC ("Top Step", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects information through our website, www.topstep.tech, and the applications we operate, including the Top Step Services portal and Roz.
We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Information we collect
- When you contact us. Our contact form collects your name and email address and, if you give them, your phone number, organization, the topic you choose and your message.
- When you use our applications. If you have an account in an application we operate, such as Roz or the Top Step Services portal, we collect your name, email address, the organization you work with, and what you add or do in the application, such as tickets, comments, work orders and notification preferences.
- When you opt in to text messages. Your mobile number, when you agreed and the wording you agreed to, your notification choices, quiet hours and time zone, and a record of the texts we send you and of opt-out and help requests.
- When you visit our website. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page visits. It doesn't use cookies and we don't use it to identify you. Our website doesn't set cookies for visitors. Our hosting providers keep standard server logs, such as IP address and browser type, for security and troubleshooting.
How we use information
- to reply to your message and follow up about working together
- to provide, support, improve and secure our applications and services
- to send the notifications you choose, by email, in the application or by text
- to confirm your mobile number and keep records of your consent and opt-outs
- to meet our legal obligations
We don't use your information for advertising, and we don't send marketing or promotional text messages.
Text messages (SMS)
We text only people who opt in, and only about the programs described in our SMS Program Terms and Roz SMS Program Terms. Your mobile number is used only to send those messages.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties, other than the providers that deliver our text messages.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP to any message for help, or STOP to opt out.
Top Step Services
Top Step Services subcontractors may choose to receive SMS text message notifications related to their account and work orders. SMS messages may include work order awards, schedule or date changes, job site details, and other work order updates.
Subcontractors opt in by agreeing to receive SMS notifications in their subcontractor agreement and by enabling the SMS notification preference inside their logged-in Top Step Services portal. The SMS notification setting is optional and can be turned on or off by the subcontractor.

Top Step Services does not sell, rent, or share mobile phone numbers or SMS opt-in consent data with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Roz
Roz is a Top Step product used by Top Step employees, Top Step subcontractors and staff of Top Step's existing customers. People with a Roz account can choose to receive text notifications about their own tickets and the release notes of apps they use. Texts stay off until the person enters their mobile number in their Roz notification preferences, ticks a box agreeing to receive them, and confirms the number with a code we text them. The Roz SMS Program Terms describe the program and show the opt-in.
Who we share information with
We do not sell personal information. We share it only:
- with service providers that host, run and support our website and applications for us, such as hosting, database, email delivery, text message delivery and the AI services behind features in our applications, so they can provide those services to us
- with the organization you work with, when you use one of our applications on its behalf (for example, your organization's administrators can see its activity in Roz)
- when the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Top Step, our users or others
- with a buyer or successor if our business is sold or transferred, who must keep protecting it as this policy describes
Information in applications we build for clients
When we build or support an application for a client, the information in it belongs to the client. We use it only as needed to build, support and maintain the application under our agreement with the client. The client's own privacy policy covers how they use it.
How long we keep information
We keep information while we need it for the purposes above: for example, while you have an account, while we work with your organization, or for as long as we need records of consent and opt-outs, and as the law requires. After that we delete it or make it anonymous.
Security
We protect information with encrypted connections, access controls and by limiting access to the people who need it. No way of sending or storing information is completely secure, so we can't guarantee its security.
Your choices
- Turn notifications on or off in your account's notification settings.
- Opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP.
- Ask to see, correct or delete your information by sending us a message through our contact form.
Children
Our website and services are for businesses and aren't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed.
