Questions people ask us
If yours isn't here, ask it in the form. You'll get a straight answer.
Do we have to use Quickbase?
No. We build software you own outright, and we build on Quickbase when that’s the better fit for your team. Plenty of clients use both, connected.
Will we own what you build?
Yes. When we build a system for you, the code, the database and the hosting are set up in your company’s name from day one. If we stopped working together, nothing would stop running.
We already have a Quickbase app. Can you work on it?
Yes. A lot of our work starts with an existing app: cleaning up tables and formulas, speeding up slow reports, adding automations, or rebuilding it in stages while your team keeps using it.
Can it connect to the software we already use?
Usually. We've connected apps to accounting and payroll, builder ordering portals, flooring and scheduling software, reporting tools, email and text messaging. If a system has an API or a regular export, we can work with it.
How does a project start?
With a conversation about how your team works today. We map your records and how they connect, agree what the first stage includes, and show you working screens early so there are no surprises at launch.
What happens after launch?
We train your team and keep improving the app as you use it. Many clients keep a regular working session with us and send requests through a support queue, and some have worked with us for years.
Who will we work with?
Matthew leads every project, with a small team of TopStep developers. You talk to the people building your app, not an account manager.
What if we move off Quickbase later?
Your data is yours. We've helped clients move apps between accounts and export or archive every record when they changed systems, and we can move an app into software you own.
